ExpiryGuard ("the app", "we") helps independent pharmacies track medicine expiry by scanning purchase bills. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Contact: getexpiryguard@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account information - your name and email address, obtained when you sign in with Google. Used to create and secure your account.
- Store and inventory data - the store name, and the bills and line items you add or scan: supplier, bill number, bill date, totals, medicine names, batch numbers, quantities, prices, and expiry dates.
- Bill images - photos of purchase bills you scan. These are stored and retained so we can extract data, let you re-check a scan later, and improve scan accuracy.
- Notification token - a device push token so we can send expiry reminders.
- Usage analytics - basic, app-usage events (for example, "bill created") and standard app/device information, to understand how the app is used and fix problems. Analytics are not collected from development builds.
We do not collect your payment-card details. We do not sell your data.
How your data is used
- To provide the service: read bills, track stock and expiry, show what is at risk, and send expiry reminders.
- To read scanned bills, the bill image is sent to a third-party AI vision service for text extraction.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
Who we share it with (service providers only)
- InsForge - backend hosting, database, authentication, and storage.
- AI OCR provider (OpenRouter / Google AI Studio) - receives the bill image to extract its text. Used only to process your scan.
- Expo / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging - delivers push notifications.
- PostHog - product analytics.
These providers process data on our behalf to run the app. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Account and data deletion
To delete your ExpiryGuard account and associated data, open Settings - Privacy & delete data in the app or email an account deletion request from the email address used for your account.
We will delete your account profile, store, inventory, bills, bill items, uploaded bill images, notification token, and associated analytics identifiers within 30 days. We will confirm when deletion is complete. Data that must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or financial-record obligations may be kept only for the required period.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is scoped to your account so other users cannot read your store's data.
Children
ExpiryGuard is a business tool for pharmacy owners and is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
